Normalize two listings by weight and visible spread before you compare the harder-to-quantify quality factors

Normalize two listings before deciding

Enter two Asscher candidates. The calculator compares price per carat, approximate face-up area and price per square millimeter of face-up area. These are comparison metrics—not a model of intrinsic value or live market pricing.

Why visible-area normalization can help

Two Asschers with similar carat weights can face up differently because more or less weight is carried in depth. Comparing price per carat alone therefore misses part of the buying decision. A simple length × width area proxy is imperfect—it ignores clipped corners—but it helps reveal when a heavier stone is not delivering proportionally more visible spread.

Do not compare natural and lab-grown diamonds as if origin were merely another grade. They are different market categories. The tool will flag cross-origin comparisons and direct you back to the natural vs lab-grown guide and Price Index methodology.
