Editorial Policy

How we separate facts, market observations, and editorial judgment

AsscherDiamond.com publishes educational material about Asscher cut diamonds for buyers and researchers. Our editorial standard is to make the basis of important claims visible and to distinguish established gemological facts from time-sensitive market observations and subjective buying judgments.

Evidence hierarchy

For technical and gemological claims, we prefer primary or authoritative sources such as the Gemological Institute of America (GIA), grading-laboratory documentation, original historical sources, and official manufacturer or retailer policy pages. Secondary sources may provide context but should not override stronger primary evidence.

Facts, estimates, and opinions

  • Gemological facts should be supported by authoritative references when the claim is material.
  • Market observations such as price or inventory availability are time-sensitive and should include an observation date and methodology when presented as measured data.
  • Editorial judgments such as a preferred buying range or retailer recommendation are identified as guidance rather than universal rules.

Fancy-shape cut guidance

We do not present a house proportion chart as an official GIA Asscher cut grade. GIA currently reserves an overall cut grade for standard round brilliant diamonds; fancy shapes require evaluation of measurements, polish, symmetry, pattern and face-up appearance. Where we offer preferred Asscher ranges, they are editorial screening criteria, not a grading-laboratory standard.

Commercial independence

Some outbound links may generate affiliate commissions. Compensation does not convert a commercial relationship into evidence. Retailer coverage is evaluated using the criteria in our Retailer Review Methodology, and affiliate relationships are disclosed in our Affiliate Disclosure.

Updates and corrections

Material factual corrections should be made promptly when verified. Pages with time-sensitive data should show a meaningful updated date only when substantive content has changed. See our Corrections Policy.
